Freddie graduated from Texas Tech University, and was awarded the coveted outstanding thesis award by the Architectural Alumni Association for his work on sustainable architecture. Freddie was recruited by one of the premiere architectural firms in the Vail Valley, Morter Architects, and served his internship there. He established Valdez Architects in 2002.

Freddie grew up drawing, painting and building stuff - creating art. His art background allows him to be more creative with his designs. He has an instinct for what looks and feels good and can move beyond the technical aspects of the project. Freddie is committed to both the artistic and humanistic dimensions of architecture. He is not only passionate about design, but also believes that the client's program and the building functionality are of utmost importance.

Freddie is an active member of the American Institute of Architects. He is married to Andrea and they have two children, Nyah and River. Aside from being with his family and work, Freddie enjoys being outside and creating art.
